How to choose a Valorant crosshair color

ContrastMap brightnessPersonal preference

There is no single best color for every player or every map. A useful color is one that you can locate in peripheral vision while your eyes stay on the angle you are holding. The right test is not whether the color looks attractive in a settings menu; it is whether it remains visible during movement, recoil, and bright visual effects.

Good colors to test

Cyan

Cyan is a common first choice because it separates from many red and brown surfaces. It can become less obvious against pale or blue-heavy areas.

Green

Green often feels calm and readable for rifles. If it blends into foliage or green utility, switch to yellow or add an outline.

Yellow

Yellow creates strong contrast for some bright maps and dark rooms. It can feel visually intense, so pair it with thin lines.

Red or pink

Red and pink match the game's visual language and can stand out on many surfaces. Use a darker outline if red effects compete with it.

A two-map color test

  1. Choose two maps with different lighting and spend 30 seconds holding common head-height angles on each.
  2. Test the same crosshair in cyan, green, yellow, and your preferred warm color.
  3. Keep the geometry identical. Score each color for visibility during still aim, strafing, and recoil.
  4. Choose the color that remains readable in both situations, then use outline opacity only if needed.
If you need a much larger crosshair to see it, check color and outline first. Extra size can hide the exact head location you are trying to learn.
