DPI, sensitivity, and why eDPI matters for crosshair design

DPI is your mouse hardware sensitivity. Valorant sensitivity is the multiplier inside the game. Multiply them together and you get eDPI, which is a simple way to compare setups. A player using 800 DPI and 0.35 sensitivity has 280 eDPI. Another player using 400 DPI and 0.70 sensitivity also has 280 eDPI.

Low eDPI players

Low eDPI players usually make larger arm movements and have smoother micro-corrections. They can often use a smaller crosshair because their mouse does not jump as far with tiny hand movements. A tight inner-line crosshair or small dot can work well, especially for Vandal, Sheriff, and Guardian.

Medium eDPI players

Medium eDPI is the most flexible range. These players can use compact lines with a visible center gap, outlines if needed, and colors chosen mainly for map visibility. If you are unsure where to start, use a balanced profile: short inner lines, no outer lines, no movement error, and a bright color.

High eDPI players

High eDPI players make faster screen movements and may over-correct when aiming at small targets. A slightly larger, more visible crosshair can help stabilize visual focus. Avoid extremely tiny dot-only profiles until your hand control is consistent, because a disappearing crosshair can make panic sprays worse.

How reaction and aim tests change the recommendation

Fast reaction time does not always mean accurate crosshair control. If reaction is strong but the aim touch score is low, use a more visible crosshair with short lines. If both results are strong, a minimal profile may be enough. If reaction is slower, use contrast and outlines to reduce the time needed to visually find center screen.

When to change sensitivity instead of crosshair

If every crosshair feels unstable, the issue may be sensitivity. Try keeping the same crosshair for a few sessions while adjusting sensitivity in small steps. Changing both at once makes it hard to know what helped. A crosshair should support your aim, not hide a sensitivity problem.
